Antonio Macioce

macioce-headshot.jpgAntonio Macioce grew up in Italy, where he used to draw whatever came into his head. After moving to the United States, he received his art training at Notre Dame, majoring in advertising design, as well as some experimenting on his own.

Macioce has been painting for more than 40 years, but put more concentrated effort into it for the past 20 years. He enjoys being around other artists, exchanging views and hearing their comments and critiques.

Macioce finds inspiration in everyday life — driving around, watching TV and hanging out with his grandsons. He paints from his head and doesn’t use photographs.

Macioce’s style is impressionistic, but he also likes to do abstract impressionism with loose, quick strokes. He finds the style fun and unrestrictive. He’s big on letting mood influence his work.

During his career in advertising, he worked mainly on print ads and in television. He also went back to Italy for a few years, before returning to the U.S.
